Am I the only one that wants it to snow a boatload? I just want to get out and play in some snow! But I digress… “Salad spinner paintings” are exactly what you think. We put paint in a salad spinner and let it do its magic. Yup, we’re getting pretty desperate creative over here. Some of it turned into finger painting, but still fun!
WHAT YOU NEED
salad spinner
washable paint
paper plates
scissors
paper towels
small spoon
WHAT TO DO
1. If the paper plates don’t fit in the salad spinner (some of ours didn’t), cut the edges off. Lay the circle flat on the bottom of the salad spinner. (You can use thick poster board, but the plates are what we had on-hand.)
2. We scooped small amounts of washable paint onto the plate with a spoon. (Perhaps there’s some squeeze bottle washable paint out there? If not, there should be!)
3. Spin spin SPIN to reveal your funky splattered creation!
Since first doing this little activity last week, we’ve got the salad spinner out numerous times to paint. I guess Mya likes working her little arm muscles.

Is it bad that I’ve used our salad spinner more for painting than for consuming green leafy veggies? Erp.
You could cut these into hearts for DIY valentines! Or you could do double-sided ones and hang them in a mobile. I like how the paint stayed within one container. Super easy clean-up is always a plus! Spin it and pin it! What’ve you been creating indoors?
