When we hung up the Mya shrine in the master bedroom, it made me realize that many other of our walls are naked. I have this thing where I don’t like hanging anything unless I absolutely know I want it to be there for awhile. But now I’m just tired of plain beige walls, so I’m quickly getting over my phobia. And since “Every day is beautiful” is currently my mantra, this seemed appropriate.
While Mya was eating breakfast and watching princess Sofia (insert Mya’s high pitched squeals of excitement), I whipped out some sharpies. It’s not a “work of art” by any means, but it fits the intended space and I like the subtle reminder to cherish every moment of every day.
Derek asked me if I forgot to color the voids of the “R, D, B, and A’s”, but no. That was intentional. Just tryin’ to be artsy over here.
I threw it– ok, I placed it gently– in a $7 Ikea frame and hung it on our black coat wall. Mya was pretty unamused of the change. She looked at it and said “I do not like it. Mama Dada like it. Mya do not like it.” Seriously? You’re 2 years old, Mya. Why so critical?!
I’m just going to tell myself that she was too busy painting to have a legitimate opinion.
I have one more framed picture plan for the near future. I hope to have it done sometime next week! Until then, be reminded that life is pretty amazing and give some big, lingering hugs to your loved ones. Because every day is beautiful. Derek says I’ve been super sappy lately and has nicknamed me Sappygawea.
