Today was a very big day for us over here. Mya had her first day of preschool. And she absolutely loved it. It’s just for a couple hours every Tuesday and Thursday, but I think I might get a lot more accomplished during the daytime hours now! And yes, I was a bit emotional walking into the grocery store without my little sidekick in tow, but I felt so much happiness knowing she’s in such a positive place.

Last night, I made the stereotypical “first day of school” poster with Mya’s favorite things and measurements. The pictures didn’t turn out that great because of the lighting… and the poster’s a bit hard to read, but here are the highlights and stats. Someone likes to perform.

2 years 10 months
28 lbs
36.5 inches

Favorite Things
the color blue
spaghetti and meatballs
“B”, bunny, and owl
the number “45”
princess tutu, crown, and dancing shoes
dreaming of blue sparkly horses and butterflies

Mya Moments
“I want to do that someday!”
“If you want to.”
“Cheeseburgers! French fries! Chocolate milk”
“I love you sooooo much.”
“Not now. Later.”
“Big toot.”
“I want a big hug.”
“Let’s take a picture because we’re so cute.”
“Let me smell my feet.”
“What you dream about?”

She wants to be a tiger when she grows up… and also for Halloween.

She walked into school wish such confidence. She was already so proud of herself. It was a beautiful thing to see.

And when Derek and I went to pick her up, we were greeted with this face, so I think she had a pretty good time.

To celebrate, we got a chocolate shake at one of our favorite lunch spots. We are so proud of our confident little person. She warms our hearts every day and there’s nothing sweeter in this world than watching her brighten the world around her.

She assures us that she’s going to live with us forever, that she’s “going to marry Mama”, and that she’ll never grow out of giving us big hugs. I’m going to hold her to that last promise.

And I promise to be back this week with another fun post. I had bronchitis for two weeks, but I’m back in the game and ready to go!

You are right. Mya was definitely more “brave” than I!
