LOVELY FINDS for LITTLE GIRLS + GIVEAWAY!

It’s probably because I’m a girl Mom, but the florals, all shades red, any heart craft, and everything XOXO are out in full force. We don’t go crazy on gifts for the girls on Heart Day, but I did pick up order the wooden heart bead set because I know Mya will love it. I also use this holiday to be a bit more practical than intended. Instead of buying chocolates and flowers (although, that’s still welcome in our home, Derek), I’m on the hunt for the girls’ spring rain gear. And with a bit of shopping around, I found some sweet deals. (Since writing this post, some links may no longer be available. We have found alternatives below, yet some links will not match the pictures here.)

“COLOR YOUR HEART OUT!” VALENTINES

On Monday night, my Mama mind blipped and I thought Mya’s Valentines’ Day party was the next morning. Last year we used crayons to make valentines and it was inexpensive and fun. So I did what every other Mom-in-a-jam would do and got on pinterest, specifically searching for a crayon craft. Mya and I raced around the house gathering the needed supplies and I think they turned out pretty cute. And Mya is proud of them which is all that matters to me!

HEART DAY HIGHLIGHTS

Everyone familiar with the movie “Tangled” (ie Rapunzel)? Ok, good. Well, when Mya woke up to her “heart attack” on Valentines’ Day, she claimed the “mean lady” came into her room and put the hearts there. Because in “Tangled”, the “mean lady” steals baby Rupunzel from her MamaDada when everyone is sleeping. So yeah, I don’t think the toothfairy’s going to go over very well.

BlueHearts

The original plan was to have a bunch of “blue lizards”– currently some of Mya’s imaginary friends, along with a lion that has stinky armpits. But as it turned out, cutting irregular shapes out of thick poster board isn’t a walk in the park! So we cut out some hearts, slapped some painters’ tape to the back and underwent super stealth mode to place them in her room Friday night.  (more…)
